“Purple Sky in the Morning” is a limited edition print which was photographed at a small fishing harbor near French Creek located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Due to weather, all of the fishing vessels were in port creating a dense scene of decks and masts in the harbor. The print is created from two photos having little color due to the rain storm. The highlights and shadows of the fishing boats were colorized with purples and reds as a play on words between the title of the image and the saying: “red sky in the morning a sailors warning but red sky at night a sailors delight” The colorful print explores the linear movement and rhythms of the congested scene with its filigree of masts and rigging.
